Hatch launched

Kiwi Invest launched

Kiwi Investment Management (Kiwi Invest) provides expert investment services for wholesale investors, including charities, community trusts, Iwi, government, local authorities and superannuation schemes.

Kiwi Wealth has become the first financial services provider in the country to be approved by the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) to deliver personalised digital financial advice.

The Kiwi Wealth KiwiSaver Scheme, and its innovative digital tool Future You, won the Best Overall KiwiSaver Member Experience category.  Kiwi Wealth was also named supreme winner of the Workplace Savings Excellence in Communication award.

RIAA certified

The Kiwi Wealth KiwiSaver Scheme investment funds have each been independently certified by Australasia’s leading certifier of responsible investors, the Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA).

Rename to Kiwi Wealth

In September 2017, we retired the 'Gareth Morgan Investments' name and became ‘Kiwi Wealth’, which also became the main brand for all of our wealth products and services.

Partial sale of KGHL

A partial sale of KGHL to the NZ Super Fund and the Accident Compensation Corporation occurred in October 2016New Zealand Post retains a majority share in KGHL.

KiwiSaver through Kiwibank

In 2013 the Kiwi Wealth KiwiSaver Scheme started to be distributed through the Kiwibank network.
2012

GMI sold

GMI and its subsidiaries were sold to Kiwi Wealth Management Limited, which is part of the Kiwi Group Holdings Limited (KGHL) and a subsidiary of New Zealand Post, in March 2012.

2008

Superannuation scheme

In 2008 a Superannuation scheme was established bringing the total number of products GMI offered to 3.
2007

15,000 members

By the end of 2007 we had already reached 15,000 KiwiSaver members.

KiwiSaver introduced

In 2007, A KiwiSaver scheme (then named the Gareth Morgan KiwiSaver Scheme) was launched alongside the Private Portfolio Service – which at the time was the only product GMI offered.
2000

Gareth Morgan Investments was started

With a mission to make investing easy to understand and give Kiwis access to global investment markets, Gareth Morgan and Andrew Gawith created Gareth Morgan Investments (GMI). The principles they built the business on still stand today.
